Just ask yourself. Would you rather be like this?

Or like this?

In this post I'll outline 10 things you can do to make sure you survive your next festival.
1. For the love of all that is good bring water!
Unless you want to end your shuffle session early or have a desert in your mouth, you better bring water. There’s just one problem - you’re not allowed to bring liquids inside the festival. Avoid spending 5 dollars on a bottle by bringing your own. There are stations inside the festival where you can fill your bottle, and lines can get long, so make sure you fill it up as soon as you arrive. A growing trend I've noticed are people using Camelbaks.
2. Never text where you are.
Text affirmative and detailed statements such as “Meet at the World Wide Stage near the purple flamingo at 6:30”. Why? - You’re not going to stay in the same place forever. Also make sure you have timestamps turned on so you can tell when your friends last texted you.
3. Don’t bring your good stuff.
Leave your good shoes, glasses, and clothes at home. Your shoes are probably going to get destroyed - either from all the dance moves you'll be busting out or from getting stepped on. Ever worn a good pair of shoes at a club only to have high heels tear through them - never again! If it gets too hot you can just take off your shirt and throw it out. The only exception to the good clothes rule is if you have a dope costume.
Try and dress somewhere in between these two...preferably closer to the girl on the right.
4. Use sunscreen with UVA and UVB protection.
Most festivals are held during the sunny months. Avoid burns by putting on SPF 30 sunscreen. Even though the music and excitement may make you feel invincible…you’re not. Protect yourself.
5. Come early and Park near the exit
Lines can get really really long! Although waiting in line is a great way to make new friends, everyone wants to get in quickly to hear the music. So come early and avoid the long lines. Make sure you have your pass before you get to the festival because getting your pass at the festival WILL TAKE HOURS.

The closer you are to the exit, the easier it will be to leave after the last set. Everybody is going to stay for that last set which means thousands will be leaving at the same time. You have 2 choices: either leave before the end or make sure you’re car is near the exit. No one wants to leave early, so make sure to get out fast. If you’re going to uber or taxi then you’re kind of screwed. In that case try to walk about 10 minutes away from the festival because it will be easier to call an Uber from there.
6. Bring sanitary toilet covers
Let’s face it, outhouses are naaaasty. You really don’t want your butt touching that seat. Most festivals don’t have re-entry so you’re gonna be stuck there for a long time and you’ll probably have to use the outhouse at some point. If you’re a guy, then no problem unless you have to poop. Squatting is alright, but its much safer to sit down. So bring some toilet covers. While you’re at it some wet wipes might be useful too.
7. Make sure you’re prepared for the night
Don't forget to bring warmer clothes because the temperature does drop. A sweater, no matter how much you don't think you'll need it, is always a good idea.
8. Follow The Festival on Social Media
Whether it's Twitter, Facebook, Instagram or even Snapchat your festival is likely to have some sort of social media communication. Make sure to follow them as they'll give important information or updates on artist additions and set time changes.
9. Download their app
Some festivals have started pushing out apps. These apps will give you vital information such as maps (especially good for really big festivals) and set times. If you’ve ever gotten lost, you know how hard it is to find your way back to your friends. Maps are a lifesaver. Ever heard an artist and been like “who is that?” Part of the fun of a festival is learning about new artists but without a set-list you’re screwed, so make sure to download the app.
10. Bring your LitKit by RaveXperience
The LitKit is a product we’ve made just for you. It includes some fun items like glowsticks and flash tattoos but also has some convenient necessities such as ear plugs, wetwipes and sunscreen. If you’re in a rush (or just lazy) and want to be prepared, consider picking one up! Home of the LitKit.
