Aoki throwing Cake

What do these pictures all have in common? They all have Steve Aoki, but more importantly they all have cake!

Not only does Aoki rage the night away with his music, but he's also one of the best entertainers in the industry. I am writing this in 2017, but getting caked is a phenomenon which started in 2011 when Aoki was promoting the group Autoerotique on his label.

This is definitely one of the weirder cases in EDM. In the first place, why would you want to get caked at a concert? Not only does it ruin your carefully curated outfit, but you're also left messy and sticky for the rest of the night. It doesn't make sense yet I must admit I find myself oddly drawn to it.

I've even had the pleasure of meeting someone who'd been caked by Steve Aoki and oddly enough she explained it to me as the best day of her life...go figure.

Here is Steve Aoki showing off his pin-point accuracy with this EPIC cake toss.

If DJing ever dies I'm pretty sure Steve Aoki will receive a couple calls from NFL scouts.

However, with great power comes great responsibility. Aoki's not only been sued by a fan for causing injury while crowd-rafting but also for...you guessed it...throwing cakes.

Regardless of the bad or the good there's just something special about getting caked.

Mr. Aoki is coming to my hometown this summer, and if I even see a glimpse of frosting I'll be leapfrogging my way to the front. After all, it's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be caked by the man himself.
